2015 Victorian Rural Health Award to Dr Katrina White

Congratulations from everyone at Mornington Coastal Medical Centre to Dr Katrina White who has recently been awarded a 2015 Victorian Rural Health Award.

The award was given by the Victorian Parliamentary Secretary for Health, Mary- Ann Thomas MP at a ceremony in Bendigo on 20th February.

The award was an acknowledgement for outstanding dedication and commitment to the health and wellbeing of rural Victorians, in particular in her role as a GP locum.

Katrina is a Canadian GP who came to Australia in 2006 following five years of rural work in the Canadian Arctic.

Katrina enjoys the diversity of rural general practice and the challenges of using clinical; skills in a remote setting

In 2009 Katrina volunteered for the Kinglake bushfires and since then relocated to Victoria, settling on the Mornington Peninsula with her husband and young son.

While maintaining balance of GP work on the Peninsula, Katrina enjoys ongoing locum work in Victoria and interstate, and enjoys the experiences in rural communities with her family
