January Update

Greetings and best wishes to all our patients for 2014. A special welcome to all summer visitors who join us for the holiday season.

As usual just when we return to work and the Australian Open begins so does the summer heatwave. However this year it has been especially brutal and there can be serious health consequences. The Department of Health has an excellent brochure on how to survive the heat - “Staying Healthy in the Heat”.

At the end of this month we say farewell to our registrar Dr Irum Khan and we thank her for her work over the last 6 months. Replacing her will once again will be Dr Phebe Kok who many of you will have met last year. Phebe will be with us for the next 12 months and we are delighted to have her return.

We will also sadly be saying farewell to our nurse Mia. Mia is having a career change and is becoming a paramedic. We thank for her the gentle kind care she has bought to many patients whilst she has been with us. We wish her all the best for her new venture.

For the practice, it will be another big year. Firstly it is accreditation time again. This happens every three years and this will be our sixth cycle. Normally we excel in the assessments made. However we see it as an opportunity to reflect , consolidate and update our services provided.

Secondly this year will see the expansion of our building. This will allow us to have more consulting rooms and possibly allied health and diagnostic services. Most significantly however will be the building of a pharmacy dispensary. This will allow our patients quick and convenient access to prescriptions and other pharmaceutical products.

The development should have minimal impact on our services but we will keep you updated as the year progresses.
